Things to do in Brighton 20 – 26 May

Here’s the final installment of my recommendations for the festivals. I’m not around in the last week of May and so the final fringe week will be missed by me. Let me know if there is anything you loved that I didn’t see.

This week is dance and physical theatre week for me.

If you only have the chance to see one thing this week make it SESSION by Still House and produced by MAYK. I saw it in London and it’s one of the most joyful and uplifting pieces I have seen in many years. It’s outdoors and involves a great band; Empire Sounds and young performers from STEPPAZ Performing Arts Academy in Tottenham. Part gig, part party involving hip-hop, Afrobeats and contemporary folk.

My oh my I love this show. And it’s pay what you decide.

It’s on 23 – 26 May at 8.30pm just near the i360, it’s under an hour long if I remember rightly. More info here

For a whole load of free events and activities you could go to Hangleton on Sat 25th May from 10am – 8pm for Our Place. It was fun at The Manor in East Brighton last Sat and so don’t miss out. Particularly if you live there. You can see the full programme for the day here.

I’m also seeing Trap Town by Wim Wandekeybus, Silence by Tatr Biuro Podrozy, Still I Rise by TRIBE and hope to squeeze in COOPED by Spymonkey. I’d also highly recommend BOYS by The Pappy Show. I don’t have time to do all the links and the photos for these shows so have some fun on Google. See ya.
