Sussex Indie Artist meeting with Lucy Davies from Royal Court, London

This is the first meeting of the Sussex Indie Artist Group in 2019 and what a cracker to start with. If you are an independent artist, creative or maker in Sussex and are particularly interested in new writing then this free event could be for you.

Lucy Davies, Executive Producer of the Royal Court in London, joins us as guest speaker at this informal meeting. Lucy will tell us about how the Royal Court works and offer insights into the theatre industry from her unique perspective. There will be a chance for you to ask questions and talk to Lucy as a group.

At 7pm you are then invited to attend the Apples and Snakes Spoken Word event Trope whose headliner is Salana Godden. It takes place at The Basement (a short walk from the first venue). It starts at 7.30pm and costs £6. You can book a ticket here.

Lucy joined the Royal Court in April 2013 and was previously the founding Executive Producer at National Theatre Wales. She launched NTW in 2009 with Artistic Director John McGrath and produced the first three years of work, including The Persians on a Brecon Beacons military base, Coriolan/us in an aircraft hangar, and The Passion with Michael Sheen across the whole town of Port Talbot . Previously, Lucy was Executive Producer at the Donmar Warehouse and Head of Studio at the National Theatre under Nicholas Hytner. Lucy was Literary Manager at the Donmar Warehouse in the 90s, where she produced an annual season of new plays, and left for a five year stint in the film industry, commissioning, developing and working on feature films. She started her career as an Assistant Director at Kneehigh Theatre. Lucy is the current Chair of London Theatre Consortium, and Chair of Trustees for Clod Ensemble.
